Newsday endorses Abrahams

Newsday endorses Nassau legislature candidates
October 30, 2007

1ST DISTRICT - South Central Nassau
Republican challenger Darren Bryant, 40, a Town of Hempstead worker who lives in Roosevelt, hasn’t bothered to show up for this race. And that’s not surprising. Incumbent Kevan Abrahams, 33, who is seeking his third term, has established himself as one of the county’s young leaders. This year, Abrahams, of Hempstead Village, has worked diligently with Uniondale groups to negotiate a plan for a new county nursing home to replace the A. Holly Patterson facility in Uniondale. A Democrat, Abrahams is also aggressively seeking more police and social services resources to confront the growing gang presence in the district. Beyond his local efforts, Abrahams has the depth and scope to address the larger issues facing the county. We endorse Abrahams.
