New York League of Conservation Voters
Endorses Kevan Abrahams For County Legislator

NEW YORK --- The New York League of Conservation Voters, which works to make environmental
sustainability a top political and policy priority in New York State, has announced its endorsement of Kevan
Abrahams for Nassau County Legislator in District 1.
Abrahams, the Democratic minority leader, is the former Finance Director of the County Legislature and
currently serves on the Budget Review, Environment, Planning Development and Rule Committees. He was a
leader in securing a $50 million environmental bond in 2005 and a $100 million environmental bond approved
by voters in 2006 in order to provide funds to preserve open spaces in Nassau County. He is currently working
on a bi-county solution to bring concerns regarding protecting water quality and aquifers to the forefront of
public policy initiatives. Recently he proposed legislation creating the Sewer and Storm Water Integrity
Oversight Board to ensure the rebuilding process of the county’s troubled plants is done in an efficient and costeffective manner
“County Legislator Kevan Abrahams is an environmental champion for Uniondale and Roosevelt,” said
NYLCV President Marcia Bystryn. “Voters only need look at his record to see the improvements and
progress he has made in the area as well as the rest of Nassau County.”
"I am happy to accept the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters,” Abrahams responded. “The
League has been the standard bearer on environmental education, awareness and activism for many years and I
believe our goals coincide with each other for Nassau County. I look forward to working with the League of
Conservation Voters for many years to come."
